Student Advisory Board

We need you! The Student Advisory Board is a great way for students to get engaged with colleagues and faculty throughout the world. This is a place for students to lead, have their voice heard, and help set the direction of the AIS Student Chapters program moving forward.

2023-2024 Student Advisory Board Selection

Application Process
Students interested in applying for a position on the Student Chapter Advisory Board will do so by nominating themselves through an online application on the Student Chapter website. The application will be open from now until May 19, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Self-nominations will be due at this time. Students interested in applying will be required to provide their name, university, major, and graduating year. In addition, they will be prompted to write about their experience with AIS Student Chapters, select the position(s) they are interested in filling and upload their resume. The term for open positions will have a limit of two academic one-year terms.

Selection
The Student Chapter Faculty Advisory Board Liaisons and AVP of Student Chapters will review applications and select board members for the next term.

Advisory Board Vision: The AIS Student Advisory Board will successfully serve as the bridge between chapters and the association by creating meaningful connections among chapter members, the business community, and fellow students.

Student Advisory Board Mission: The AIS Student Advisory Board establishes student representation in the decision-making processes required for the AIS student chapter program to fulfill its mission to promote the study, application, and advancement of information systems through career enhancement, professional networking, and chapter development.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active student leader or active student org member*

  • Commitment to the progress of AIS

  • Be a go-getter

  • Passionate about student engagement and helping others succeed

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to bring insight on meaningful conversations and be part of AIS’s strategic plan

  • Able to commit 8-10 hours a month for Student Advisory Board duties

  • Willing to share ideas and work together with Student Advisory Board to achieve goals

  • Team player

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current & active member of an AIS student chapter board*

  • Be in good academic standing

  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate/graduate business student (12 hours minimum)

  • Have completed at least one term of academic work at their current institution

Expectations:

  • Be an active voice for AIS Students

  • Commit 8-10 hours a month for Student Advisory Board duties

  • Work together with the Advisory Board members to achieve common goals

  • Be proactive with duties and responsibilities

Strategic Priorities and Focus:

  • Help AIS business students find their voice in our community

  • Be a beacon of resources to our students and share information

  • Inspire the AIS business community by sharing student success
