The 6th Annual NEAIS Conference

Welcome Message

Welcome to the Sixth Annual Conference of the New England chapter of the Association for Information Systems (NEAIS). We are delighted to see participation from faculty members and students representing over ten esteemed universities, including Babson College, Baruch College, Bentley University, Brandeis University, Northeastern University, Suffolk University, The Federal Polytechnic (Offa), UMass-Amherst, UMass-Boston, UMass-Dartmouth, UMass-Lowell, University of Connecticut, University of New Hampshire, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). The NEAIS Chapter Board extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) for graciously hosting this event at their beautiful campus on Thursday, October 24th, 2024. Our appreciation also goes to you, the AIS Council, and our generous sponsors for making this conference a great success.

This year's conference is themed "Responsible Digital Transformation in the Age of AI". As organizations and industries worldwide embrace the potential of artificial intelligence (AI), the transformative power of these technologies is reshaping every aspect of business and society. The theme for this year’s conference, “Responsible Digital Transformation in the Age of AI”, is a timely and crucial focus. It highlights the need to ensure that as we innovate and adopt AI-driven technologies, we do so in ways that are ethical, equitable, and sustainable.

Our conference will commence with a warm welcome from The Reverend Dr. Debora Jackson, Harry G. Stoddard Professor of Management and Dean of the Business School at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Following the welcome address, we will have two paper session periods, with a break in between. During the first paper session, recipients of this year's conference Best Paper Awards will be announced. As in previous years, we will present two awards: the Conference Best Paper Award (academic award) and the Conference Best Student Paper Award (student award).  After the second paper session period, we will take a networking lunch break, followed by the keynote address. This year, we are pleased to be joined by Professor Monideepa Tarafdar to deliver an enlightening keynote address. Monideepa Tarafdar is the Charles J. Dockendorff Endowed Professor of Information Systems at Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Association of Information Systems (JAIS). NEAIS 2025 invitation, paper sessions, a networking break, and NEAIS business meeting will follow afterward.

Given the current global focus on AI and digital transformation, the theme “Responsible Digital Transformation in the Age of AI” reflects the growing need for thought leadership on how to integrate AI into business processes in a way that upholds ethical standards. The 6th NEAIS Conference provides the perfect platform to explore these complex issues through academic presentations, industry insights, and collaborative discussions. By focusing on responsible AI, this conference encourages participants to not only explore cutting-edge innovations but also to think critically about their broader societal impact. To this end, we thank all our reviewers for making this process possible. Further, we encourage participants to leverage the networking opportunities with IS professionals, academics and business leaders the conference affords.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with thought leaders, innovators, and students in the field of Information Systems. Please register today and join us for an exciting 6th NEAIS Conference!

In closing, the NEAIS board members extend their heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering support and remain hopeful that together, we can continue to elevate NEAIS as a thriving and active chapter within AIS.
