Dr. Philipp Staudt

Dear colleagues, as a junior professor for Environmental and Sustainable Information Systems at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, my commitment to the advancement of our Green IS community is a natural extension of my professional interests. The group has achieved remarkable progress in establishing the domain within the AIS over recent years, and I am keen to continue moving us forward on this trajectory. The ongoing efforts to develop a robust theoretical foundation for Green IS promise to significantly mature the field that has been the focus of my entire professional career. For over a decade, I’ve been dedicated to conceptualizing, analyzing, and designing digital solutions for the energy transition and other sustainability challenges. I did my PhD in this field at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, followed by leading a research group on Smart Grids and Energy Markets, and then moving on to a PostDoc position at the MIT Energy Initiative. Currently, my research centers on developing digital applications that enhance energy self-efficacy among households, exploring organizational data management and transformations for sustainable business practices, and examining the impact of regulation on digital capabilities essential for the energy transition.
