Big data processing technologies, usually characterized by several V (Volume, Velocity, Variety/Variability), have become an important part of digital technologies. The scope of their use is rapidly expanding. The Special Interest Group on Big Data Application (SIG BD) was established in 2015 to respond to these trends and capture the business-oriented impacts of big data analytics in business process management, data processing, and e-commerce. Following the extensive growth in members, SIG BD was awarded outstanding SIG in 2018.

The main topics that the participants of SIG BD consider are the following:

  • determining trends in the use of big data technologies in various areas of economic activity
  • challenges and opportunities for the use of big data
  • new approaches, methods, algorithms, and technologies for creating applications based on big data
  • integration of big data with other information technologies
  • other topics on the sources and ways of obtaining big data

International Workshop on Big Data Value Creation (WBDVC)

The Special Interest Group for Big Data Application (SIG BD) is proud to organize the 10th workshop in conjunction with the ICIS 2025.

The workshop will feature research papers that focus on new models of big data value, the capabilities of modern environments, platforms, ecosystems for their implementation, new tools, strategies and technologies for using data and data governance that provide sustainable value for big data, and the features of creating big data value in various industries. The workshop welcomes the following topics: Data Fabric Architecture, Smart Computing Models and Tools, Convergence of IoT and Big Data, Edge Analytics for Real-Time Data Processing, Convergence of AI, ML and Big Data, Decentralized Data Governance Models, Democratizing Data Access, Big Data Quality, Value Creation Services,  Augmented Analytics, Predictive Analytics,

and further relevant research on big data systems.

The workshop will be held as a one-day meeting in conjunction with the ICIS 2025. Workshop participants will be charged a nominal registration fee.

If you wish to present your work, please send your abstract describing the key ideas by 5th December 23:59 CET.

The recommended structure of the paper: purpose (mandatory), design / methodology / approach (mandatory), findings (mandatory), research limitations / implications (if applicable), practical implications (if applicable), originality / value (mandatory).

An extended abstract will be included in AIS Library.
