Big data processing technologies, usually characterized by several V (Volume, Velocity, Variety/Variability), have become an important part of digital technologies. The scope of their use is rapidly expanding. The Special Interest Group on Big Data Application (SIG BD) was established in 2015 to respond to these trends and capture the business-oriented impacts of big data analytics in business process management, data processing, and e-commerce. Following the extensive growth in members, SIG BD was awarded an outstanding SIG twice, in 2018 and 2024.

The main topics that the participants of SIG BD consider are the following:

  • determining trends in the use of big data technologies in various areas of economic activity
  • challenges and opportunities for the use of big data
  • new approaches, methods, algorithms, and technologies for creating applications based on big data
  • integration of big data with other information technologies
  • other topics on the sources and ways of obtaining big data

We are proud to announce the 10th International Research Workshop on Big Data and Augmented Analytics (WBDA) in a hybrid format, in conjunction with the ICIS 2025. Workshop participants will be charged a nominal registration fee.

Date: 10:30 Saturday, December 13, 2025

Please click here to register.

The workshop will feature research papers that focus on using Big Data technologies for an augmented analytics process that can assist organisations in automatically finding, visualising and narrating potentially significant data correlations and trends. We welcome papers that focus on democratising Big Data by integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities with analytics platforms and tools. These tools enable automating and streamlining data analysis through intuitive, user-friendly workflows, allowing users to use data without the intervention of a professional analyst effectively.

The workshop welcomes the following topics:

  • Automated data preparation,
  • Big Data Parameterisation and Characterisation,
  • Streamlined data integration,
  • Automated data discovery,
  • Automated insights and Big Data visualisation,
  • Natural language query,
  • Natural language generation for business analytical application,
  • Big Data Democratisation,
  • Automated data management,
  • Big Data literacy,
  • Augmented Analytics Case Study,
  • Challenges of augmented analytics
  • and further relevant research.

Please send submissions to the SIG BD Secretary (nk622@cam.ac.uk).

All submissions must be in Adobe PDF format. Files submitted in other formats or that do not use the paper submission template will not be considered for review. You can download the paper submission template here: ICIS 2025 Paper Submission Template. An EndNote reference style (APA 7th edition)  can be downloaded here (if you use the EndNote reference manager).

The body of the submission (text, figures, tables, references, and appendices) should be stored in one single file and must use the ICIS 2025 Paper Submission Template. All figures and illustrations must be inserted into your document as either JPG or GIF format (other formats or embedded graphic objects will not be converted to PDF correctly). For more instructions regarding figures, please see the submission template. Any submission that does not use this template or deviates from the formatting requirements will be rejected without review.

Systems Student Research Journal (ISSRJ), a newly established AIS-affiliated journal specifically designed to showcase pioneering research by IS students.

ISSRJ provides a dedicated platform for both undergraduate and graduate students to present their contributions to the global IS community. The journal seeks to spotlight student research distinguished by its scientific relevance and innovative ideas, which traditional academic outlets often overlook. The journal prioritizes insightful contributions and ensure research transparency without an overt focus on methodological sophistication, making it an ideal venue for emerging scholars.

The journal accepts submissions in various formats, including research papers, thesis digests, innovation snapshots, and reflection notes, across all IS subfields. The journal features a supportive double-blind peer review process with evaluation criteria tailored to undergraduate and graduate levels. The journal is committed to providing developmental support through comprehensive review packages and editor consultations, with a three-month review cycle from submission to acceptance. The journal celebrates novel and unconventional ideas while encouraging unique research topics and methods. Students can submit work completed during their studies or within two years of graduation.
