SIG AI Dissertation Award - 2025

The AIS Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (SIG AI) invites submissions for the 2025 SIG AI Dissertation Award. Applicants must be members of AIS, and dissertations must be focused on artificial intelligence. Applicants must have received the final approval of their dissertation between January 1, 2024 and August 30, 2025.

Dissertations will be evaluated based on their contribution to IS research and relevance to IS practice. The winner will be announced during the SIG AI Workshop at the 2025 International Conference on Information Systems in Nashville. The committee members are Alan Dennis (Chair), Antino Kim, Dan O’Leary, Ilias Pappas, and Laura Watkowski.

The deadline for submission is November 14, 2025. Submissions should be emailed to Professor Alan Dennis (ardennis@iu.edu), with a subject of "SIG AI Dissertation Award”. The following three documents must be submitted as a single pdf file in the order listed below. All materials must be in English. Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

  1. A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s dissertation advisor nominating the applicant, describing the importance of the research, and stating the date on which the dissertation was approved.
  2. An extended abstract of the dissertation that highlights the significance of the research questions(s), the methods, the results, and key contributions to research and practice. The extended abstract should be no more than 10 pages, including all content (i.e., body, references, tables, figures, appendix, etc.). The document should be single-spaced, 12-point font, using standard page sizes (letter or A4).
  3. The applicant’s current curriculum vitae.
