Annual Conference

Due to the inability to accurately assess the potential reach of the coronavirus, the desire to protect the health and safety of our members and our communities, and the potential consequences of bringing together a large group of people from around the world, it has been decided to postpone our SAIS Annual Conference this year until September 11 – 12, 2020.  Additionally, the conference will now be virtual!  The full conference program can be found here, and the official schedule of presentations can be found at conference.southernais.org


Each year, SAIS hosts an intimate gathering of fewer than one hundred participants here in the southeastern U.S. Submit your manuscript -- using the appropriate template (full or abstract) -- for consideration following our guidelines and be sure to keep on eye on upcoming deadlines. Both authors and attendees must register for the conference. Be sure to book your hotel accommodations early.

The current conference program will generally be available under Discussions on the community home page. Programs for past conferences can be found in the archives.

Important Dates

  • January 10, 2020:July 17th: Submission deadline for completed papers, research-in-progress, panels, tutorials, and workshops
  • February 7, 2020: Acceptance notification
  • February 27, 2020: Deadline for author registration & submission of final versions of accepted papers
  • March 27-28: September 11-12 2020: SAIS 2020 Conference
  • TBD: Proceedings published on AIS e-library

The conference opens on the morning of March 27 and ends with lunch from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on March 28.

The following describes the registration requirements for each type of registrant. Undergraduate and Master’s students must email the VP-Conference Chair at conferencechair@southernais.org to confirm their status and register for the conference at a reduced rate.

There is an exception for students not officially enrolled in a PhD program. If this applies to you, before registering please contact the SAIS president (president@southernais.org).

Paper Submission

Submit all full-papers or research-in-progress manuscripts online at: https://papers.southernais.org.

Manuscript submissions may not exceed six single-spaced pages, including all figures, tables, appendices, and references. Previously published work or work under review elsewhere is not eligible for submission. Please use the appropriate manuscript template (full or abstract) to prepare your submission. To facilitate a blind review, please do not include any author or affiliation identification on any page of the document, in headings, footers, or in properties of the submitted file.

All authors must adhere to the AIS code of research conduct. Turnitin software will be utilized by the program chair as a tool to avoid issues of plagiarism and ensure academic integrity.

Contact the program chair (programchair@southernais.org), if you are willing to serve as a reviewer to obtain keycode access to the online submission site.

The Southern Association for Information Systems (SAIS) is a volunteer-managed, official chapter of AIS, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the practice and study of information systems.
