Dr. Matthew Hudnall

Dr. Matthew Hudnall is a tenured Associate Professor in Management Information Systems within the Culverhouse College of Business at UA and serves as UA’s Faculty Senate President. Dr. Hudnall received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Troy University and his Master’s and Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Alabama. Dr. Hudnall specializes in developing statewide software data integration and analytics solutions for law enforcement, traffic safety, medical, and other state-level sectors. He is highly active in interdisciplinary funded research, having helped execute over 80 grants totaling more than $47 million in combined funding. Dr. Hudnall is also part of Governor Ivey’s Generative AI Taskforce, which is creating recommendations for how the state works with AI in the future.

Larry is a second-career Ph.D., graduating in 2016 after a 20 year career in Information Systems, Project Management, and Corporate Management. He brings those insights into research and is able to consider the business perspective on theoretical and academic topics. He also holds an MBA and a Masters in Enterprise Consulting.

Octavia N. Howell, Chief Information Security Officer, Equifax Canada Co. 

Recognized as the 2024 Canada CISO of the year and one of Canada's Top Women in Cybersecurity Octavia Howell has spent her career protecting some of the world's largest financial institutions from cyber-attacks. She serves as Equifax Canada's Chief Information Security Officer. Octavia received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Spelman College and holds multiple industry certifications. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, the International Information Systems Security Consortium (ISC2), Co-Chairs the CISO Forum for the Information Technology Senior Management Forum (TSMF), and sits on the Advisory Board of SiberX Octavia believes "A team is only as strong as their leaders and each leader casts a shadow that they will be held accountable for." She genuinely believes that we are placed on this earth to help each other achieve greatness (whatever that may be). One thing for sure, Octavia lives by Mary Church Terrill's "Lift while you climb." In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and cheering her daughter on in Competitive Acrobatic Dance and her son in Track and Field.

Chad Wasserman, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, HCA Healthcare

Chad Wasserman is senior vice president and chief information officer of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services. 

A 28-year veteran of HCA Healthcare, Wasserman leads more than 7,000 colleagues in the Information Technology Group (ITG), which provides global IT strategy solutions and support for HCA Healthcare and its hospitals and sites of care.  He oversees the group’s array of solutions including infrastructure, cloud, automation, data engineering, software development, enterprise systems and clinical technology initiatives. 

Previously Wasserman served as senior vice president and chief operating officer for ITG, after serving as VP ITG Service Line and Corporate Solutions.  He has served in a variety of senior leadership positions for the company including vice president ITG Digital Patient Experience and vice president ITG Infrastructure Services and Operations.  Prior to 2017, Chad was CIO of Parallon Business Performance Group.  

He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Nashville Technology Council.  Wasserman is an HCA Healthcare Hope Fund board member and sits on the Belmont University Business Solutions and Analytics Advisory Board. 

Wasserman earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Villanova University and his master’s degree in business administration from Tennessee State University. 

Curley Henry, Chief Information Security Officer, Southern Company

Curley Henry, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Southern Company, is responsible for managing cybersecurity strategy and risk across all Southern Company affiliates and business units. Since 2015, Henry has served in executive roles at the company, including Deputy CISO. 

Henry works closely within the utility industry, engaging with state public service commissions, Department of Energy, the National Labs, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and leaders from other utilities.  He also engages in the cybersecurity technology industry, working closely with executives who are developing innovative solutions to pressing challenges.

Henry has almost 30 years of experience in information technology and cybersecurity. Before joining Southern Company, he served in senior leadership roles at E* Trade Financial, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM.  Earlier in his career, Henry was a Department of Defense consultant where he led a team to design, build and manage the first 24x7 security operations center for the U.S. Army Reserve Command.   He began his career in the military and was a founding member of the U.S. Army Reserve’s Information Operations Command, which provided cyber security and information assurance support to installations and units across the continental United States.

Henry studied engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology before joining the military. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Saint Leo University and completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. He serves as the Chair of Propel’s Cybersecurity Steering Committee, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Technology Security Coalition, Georgia Tech’s Parent Board and is a staunch advocate for Women in Technology’s Single Mothers Program.

Joshua Jones, CEO, QuantHub

Joshua Jones is CEO of QuantHub, a Birmingham-based education technology company that helps people prepare for a data-driven future. As an online learning platform, QuantHub provides personalized learning paths in data and AI skills for students, professionals, and corporations, preparing them for future job demands.  

Prior to his role at QuantHub, Jones was founder and CEO of StrategyWise, an award-winning data science and AI consulting firm. StrategyWise provided data science strategy to global firms ranging from Samsung and Toshiba to Southern Company and Chick-Fil-A. Raychel Wooten,  Director of Consulting Services, CGI

Raychel Wooten joined CGI in 2013 as a software consultant and has moved up the professional ladder to her current position as Director of Consulting Services. Raychel has been integral to CGI’s profitable growth from her initial role as a software developer to her current role acting as a trusted advisor to her clients and coworkers. She has a passion for mentoring young women interested in joining the information technology profession, from guest lecturing at local universities to organizing and participating in STEM camps for underrepresented youth. Her willingness to help build a bridge between CGI and local nonprofit organizations has won her awards at CGI. Raychel is a graduate of the University of Alabama with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Management Information Systems and earned her MBA from UAB.

Danielle DiLuzio,  Director of Product Management, HCA Healthcare’s Information Technology Group (ITG) Accelerated Technologies

Danielle DiLuzio is Director of Product Management for HCA Healthcare’s Information Technology Group (ITG) Accelerated Technologies team. She is responsible for overseeing the team’s product lifecycle – intaking new ideas, prioritizing them, designing solutions in partnership with business stakeholders and end users, launching solutions, and making improvements / adaptations iteratively to meet ever changing needs. Her team supports 20 applications and 2 platforms that support caregivers and operators on their journey to providing high quality patient care using real-time data insights. 

Danielle has been with HCA for 10+ years and joined upon graduation from Louisiana State University where she earned her degree in Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) with a specialization in Internal Auditing. In university, she primarily interned as a web developer and media creator. Upon graduation, she began her career as a Staff Auditor at HCA Healthcare Internal Audit and had the opportunity to perform numerous consulting & assurance reviews of key enterprise technologies. After 8 years, now as Director of Information Systems Audit, she set her sights on new horizons and moved to her current role – leading teams to design & deliver custom-developed applications that not only solve business problems, but users love too. 

Danielle currently serves on the board of Progress, Inc. a non-profit in Middle Tennessee that supports those with intellectual disabilities and seniors, enabling them to live as independently as possible. In her free time, she enjoys learning new things, doing hot yoga (she’s a certified yoga teacher), traveling, and spending time with her husband and cat.

Bobbie Johnson, Enterprise Infrastructure Director, Site Reliability Center
PNC Technology

Bobbie Johnson is senior vice president, director of Enterprise Infrastructure at the Site Reliability Center (SRC) for The PNC Financial Services Group. In this role, she is accountable for identifying, assessing, controlling and reporting events and incidents as they occur and to proactively mitigate risk.

 

The objective of the SRC is to proactively maintain an operationally healthy

technology environment, spanning all layers of the technology and interdependencies using Site Reliability Engineering practices. Since 2018, Johnson held numerous positions of increasing responsibility at PNC, including software engineering director for Retail Technology and software engineering group manager for the organization responsible for supporting 52 client-facing, high volume applications. Previously, she served in various technology roles in other financial and healthcare institutions.

 

Johnson earned a Master of Science, Information Technology, and a Master of Science in Leadership, and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science with a concentration in mathematics from Duquesne University. In addition, she attended The Advanced Leadership Institute (TALI) at Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business.
