One week to SIGLEAD annual meeting

  
Our SIGLEAD annual meeting is next Friday and we look forward to being together.  The meeting will be held in conjunction with the AMCIS conference at 8am US Eastern time on August 13 via the following link:

Thank you all who participated in our Annual Meeting last week.  We will have a half year checkpoint in February.  Please save the date for February 10, at 11am EST at https://csus.zoom.us/j/82237063951

We also invite a call for nominations (self-nominations encouraged) to serve as our SIG communications director.  The role will be responsible for producing a quarterly newsletter highlighting accomplishments of SIG members.

  • SIG recognition—we were recognized as an Outstanding SIG for the 2nd year in a row
    • There is a scoring system in place for earning the Outstanding SIG recognition
  • Regional engagement
    • SIG representatives participated in AMCIS, ECIS and PACIS this year
    • Engagement with others at events like Member Connect were limited, as there may be some virtual conference fatigue
  • Communication and outreach
    • Outreach efforts have progressed in Asia Pacific, as discussions are ongoing with an IS professional society in Australia regarding ways to collaborate

  • SIGLEAD track and mini-tracks

Three tracks will be proposed for AMCIS 2022

Jennifer and Sam will again serve as track chairs

IS Leadership minitrack will be chaired by Mazen Shawosh and May Bantan

IT Profession minitrack will be chaired by Paola Gonzalez and John Oredo

Leadership General Track will be chaired by Stephane Gagnon and Joseph Taylor

  • SIG has a site on the AIS website
  • Also has a LinkedIn group for information sharing

 

 

  1. Discuss year goals from AY 2022
  • What would we like to accomplish as a SIG
    • We would like to plan a special issue in conjunction with AMCIS 2022
    • Will initial look at JSIS, CAIS or ISM for potential outlet
      • Paola Gonzalez and Sam Zaza will lead the effort
    • We would like to look for ways to provide more recognition for doctoral students and junior faculty
      • We will consider developing some type of junior faculty and doctoral student award
      • SIG leadership is willing to write letters for tenure and promotion review for individuals who have been active in SIG activities, please reach out to Joseph or Jennifer if you’d like help
