3D design and 3D printing

During this 3D printing workshop, complete beginners who have never seen or heard of 3D printing will be able to learn basic 3D design and 3D printing. Student leaders from Kennesaw State University will use Tinkercad, a free browser-based 3D design software, and 3dprinteros, a cloud-based 3D printing management system, during this workshop.

The Kennesaw State University team has hosted 3D printing workshops for over 2,500 business students since August 2021 with great success. During this session, they will discuss the basics of 3D design and 3D printing, problems that arose while implementing this 3D printing activity into core business classes at KSU, and how they are solving those problems.

Be sure to attend this session to see your own project printed!

Blockchain and the World of Data

Blockchain is a series of technologies that are used by major retailers and organizations to compile, analyze, and track any type of raw data that they possess based on block-linked methods for storing data. Join student leaders from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign to learn the main purposes of Blockchain including how it can be successfully implemented into an organization and the main benefits that Blockchain has for improving the outlook of a company. Terms such as demand forecasting, content delivery network, and public key infrastructure will be discussed throughout the workshop to show its relevance to the major trends that Blockchain has created. Along with that, a real-life case study will be evaluated within the presentation to further emphasize the needs of Blockchain. Ultimately, this workshop will help future IS professionals understand the opportunities that organizations have because of Blockchain and how it has revolutionized the world of data.

Presented by:

  • Members of AIS Illinois with a variety of majors (Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, etc), led by Viren Agarwal & Pranav Prasad

Building Community in your AIS Student Chapter
This year, the Temple AIS executive board was composed of almost entirely new executive board members. With this change of leadership, this team of student leaders also decided to change the priorities of the executive team. They focused on building the AIS community to be strong and interconnected. During COVID, they lost many opportunities to get to know peers and build a community that keeps us connected to others. AIS chapters must work consciously and actively to ensure these opportunities are not lost forever. While offerings of speakers, professional development, technical development, and mentorship are largely beneficial to members, what differentiates your organization from other opportunities on campus and beyond is the community offered alongside those events.

Through this talk, student leaders from Temple University will detail the actions they have taken to build community in their organization and will share recommendations for other chapters to do the same.
