The AIS Chapter Germany (AISD) hosted in-person receptions at AMCIS 2023, Panama City, and ICIS 2023, Hyderabad. More than 40 participants met at AMCIS and discussed career paths in the US compared to Europe with Prof. Michelle Carter. At ICIS, coaching sessions with senior chapter members were raffled off among Ph.D. students to provide the most junior members of the Chapter an opportunity to get career insights from experienced scholars.

On June 14, the AIS Chapter Germany (AISD) hosted its Chapter Reception at the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) in Kristiansand, Norway. More than 50 attendees used the opportunity to network with colleagues and to attend the award ceremony of the very first AISD First Award. The AISD First Award is designed to promote new members of the AISD community by recognizing an outstanding publication that an author has published in a leading journal as their first-ever IS journal article. On February 13, 2023, the Officers of the Executive Board were reelected for the 2023/2024 term. President: Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar, Technische Universität München Director-At-Large: Prof. Dr. Claudia Loebbecke, Universität zu Köln Secretary: Prof. Dr. Tim Weitzel, Universität Bamberg Treasurer: Prof. Dr. Tilo Böhmann, Universität Hamburg We are looking forward to two more years with exciting offerings such as the AISD First Award ( Link ) and Chapter Receptions at our field’s leading conferences.

Impressions from AMCIS 2022, Minneapolis, and ICIS 2022, Copenhagen The AIS Chapter Germany (AISD) hosted in-person receptions at AMCIS 2022, Minneapolis, and ICIS 2022, Copenhagen. More than 40 participants met at AMCIS and more than 150 participants attended the reception in the atmospheric Bella Center in Copenhagen. In both chapter receptions, coaching sessions with senior chapter members were raffled off among Ph.D. students who attend the events. Both the senior scholars and the Ph.D. students reported that they enjoyed the coaching sessions. The Chapter will therefore organize similar formats in the future.

After a series of virtual chapter receptions, this was the first in-person event since ICIS 2019. More than 40 attendees used the opportunity to network with colleagues and to attend the award ceremony of the very first AISD First Award. On December 13, 2021, we organized the Chapter’s first in-person reception at ICIS 2021 in Austin, Texas. More than 80 participants joined us to network, discuss research, and enjoy an evening together. Thanks to Tilo Böhmann for hosting the reception! We are looking forward to future Chapter receptions at the AIS conferences.

Dear members of the AIS Chapter Germany, thank you for participating at the AISD Reception @ECIS 2021. In the first session, we were happy to welcome four PhDs poster presentations combined with engaging discussions with fellow students and senior scholars. Each presenting PhD as well as a lucky draw of participating PhDs won a coaching session with renowned senior scholars. In the second session, we move into virtual escapes rooms and helped Sherlock Holmes to prevent Moriarty’s robbery at the masked ball.
