We hope that every one of you is safe and healthy and that you are successfully navigating these difficult times. Despite the world being mostly on hold we have some interesting news to share with you.
1. SIG Sourcing named “Outstanding Community”
The Association for Information Systems has named SIG Sourcing as an outstanding Special Interest Group for the year 2019. This honorable recognition serves as motivation for groups to maintain excellent programs, operations, and services that support a successful AIS Community. SIG Sourcing as an example has hosted multiple events bringing together IS scholars, teachers, and practitioners contributing to this recognition.
2. Impact of COVID-19 on Sourcing
Ilan Oshri (University of Auckland) has given a webinar on the “Impact of COVID-19 on the IT Outsourcing Industry.” In his webinar Ilan outlines negative and positive impacts of COVID-19 on IS and business process outsourcing, presents the results of a recent survey, and reflects on whether COVID-19 has changed and will change the fundamentals of IS outsourcing.

3. JIT Special Issue on “Emerging Technologies in Information Systems Sourcing”
Key members of the SIG Sourcing will serve as special issue guest editors for a sourcing-related special issue in the Journal of Information Technology. Details of this call can be found here.
Please note important dates:
30 September 2020: deadline to submit extended abstract for those interested to participate in the JIT Special Issue Workshop (run by SIG on Advances in Sourcing as pre- or post-ICIS event). The Workshop is intended to provide feedback and facilitate paper development. It will take place online to accommodate authors who are not able to travel to ICIS. Participation in the Workshop is optional, the authors may decide to submit a full paper by the first round submission deadline.
