Newsletter Nov 2020

Dear Sourcing Community,

We hope this email finds you well in these difficult times. Unfortunately, we will not be able to meet in-person at ICIS. Yet, the work of our community has not come to a halt and we wanted to give you a quick update on the latest news and to encourage you to attend our virtual post-ICIS event.

SIG Annual Meeting and JIT Special Issue Paper Development Workshop – December 16th

The 2020 SIG Annual Meeting will take place as a virtual post-ICIS event. The SIG event will start with a keynote by Professor Ilan Oshri about the impact of COVID-19 on the sourcing marketplace. After this keynote, we will have a paper development workshop  (approx. 2-2.5 hours) run by the guest editors of the JIT special issue on “emerging technologies and IS sourcing”: Julia Kotlarsky, Ilan Oshri, Oliver Krancher and Rajiv Sabherwal.

The paper development workshop will run in 2 parallel streams, with joint summary session at the end. Authors of extended abstracts will present their work-in-progress and we will have time for discussion where feedback from all participants is highly appreciated. Therefore we believe that the workshop will be beneficial not only for those who have submitted extended abstracts but for a much wider audience working on issues related to IS sourcing.

You can register to this SIG event via ICIS registration page (registration for the SIG Advances in Sourcing event is free). The time of the workshop has been chosen to accommodate participants from the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. It is taking place on December 16th between 1pm and 5pm (NY time).

Talk: Impact of COVID19 on Sourcing

Ilan Oshri (University of Auckland) has given a webinar on the “Impact of COVID-19 on the IT Outsourcing Industry.” In his webinar Ilan outlines negative and positive impacts of COVID-19 on IS and business process outsourcing, presents the results of a recent survey, and reflects on whether COVID-19 has changed and will change the fundamentals of IS outsourcing. Watch the video here or download the slides here.

We hope to see many of you during our virtual ICIS event to discuss sourcing-related topics, reflect on the past year... and to catch-up with each other.

Best regards,
Your SIG Sourcing Team
