    AIS Covid-19 Learning Action Awards
Call for Postings on Changed Learning Practices

Two pressing problems for faculty in the coming semester are recognizing and understanding the problems students are facing, while acknowledging the huge role that information systems has played in helping cope with the pandemic and the ongoing transition to the new normal.

We believe that going forward teaching must recognize this pandemic driven and technology transformed world.

We are pleased to announce the AIS Covid-19 Learning Action Awards, which will recognize exceptional postings to the AIS Covid-19 forum on one or more of the following issues:

    • New classes developed specifically around the role of IS in the pandemic recovery.
    • Changes to your syllabus for subject X to include Covid-19 relevant material.
    • Changes to your syllabus for subject X to teach in an online or hybrid mode.
    • How you plan to teach topic Y, a part of subject X, in online mode.
    • What you have learned from teaching online during recent months, and what behaviors you have adopted (or abandoned).
    • New approaches to assessment when students cannot be readily supervised.
    • How you will handle and assess group discussions, cases, or debates, etc
    • Descriptions of Covid-19 related assignments
    • Mini Cases addressing Covid-19 issues

The AIS Covid-19 Learning Action Awards include a $200 or $100 award for each of the three AIS regions, for a total of six awards. Further, the donations enabling these awards will be matched by AIS, so that each award recipient can specify a Covid-19 related charity in their region to receive an amount equal to their award. Finally, each award recipient will receive a formal certificate to recognize their contribution.

    Criteria

    • Must focus on IS content
    • A teaching method or content change as a result of Covid-19
    • Innovative online or hybrid approach to teaching
    • Potentially impacts many IS students
    • Teaching material related to Covid-19 IS impacts

To be considered, please post your contribution on the AIS Covid-19 forum before August 1st.  Please tag your posting "Learning Action".
